I will be studying in Rome for three months, and will have my daughter (19) coming to visit me for a week. There will not be room in my apartment, so I want to find a SAFE and inexpensive place for her to stay.
Any suggestions? Grazie.

Dena, you might have a look at This Hostel to see if it might fit your criteria. I felt it was a "safe" place to stay, especially as they have front desk staff on duty at all times. There is a Bar (open in the late afternoon), so it can be a bit noisy at nights. Access to the Hostel is controlled by electronic lock from the street, so it's only accessible to guests. The room I was assigned had electronic card access, so only the people in that Dorm room could get in. It's also a good place to meet other travellers. It's an easy walk to Termini from the Hostel. If you're in Rome you might stop by and have a chat with them and look the facilities over.
Just curious, what are you studying?
Cheers!
Oh my god, I have the perfect place. It's recommended in Ricks book and I have stayed there. It's called the Beehive and it's about 2 blocks from Termimi. It's a beautiful hostel owned and operated by an American family living in Rome. It's more that a hostel, it's also an art space with restaurant and the place is beautiful and very very clean. I stayed last year and paid $20.00 per night in an 8 bed quad. Very Very safe!!!
Thank you for these two recommendations. I will check both of them out carefully.
Answer to Vernon's question: I took Italian during the Spring, so this will be a great opportunity to use what I have learned (and hopefully expand). My classes in Italy will be Literature, Roman Mythology, Theology and Art. I'm very excited.
Thank you again for your suggestions.

Where is your apartment? I assume you would want your daughter as close as possible.
Hi Michael,
That's the problem. I won't know where the apartment is until the week before I go. I'd like to have a couple of options known before I leave, and then will check them out once I arrive.
Thanks. Dena
I'll be staying at Hostel Alessandros mentioned in the first post. I'll be there from July 19-Aug 2nd so I can post when I get back on my experiences.
One thing to keep in mind, if your daughter is looking for Female only accomodation is that it seems to book up quickly in the high season (shared books up slower)
Thank you Grant - I can't wait to hear about your experience. Thank you for your willingness to share.
Dena
Why not check out the religious hostels, i.e. monasteries and nunneries? They always have a curfew but that means they are locked up at night.
Hey Dena,
Change of plans, I won't be staying at both Alessandro hostels anymore. I've changed to staying at the Alessandro Palace only. The reason?? There is a heat wave in Rome right now, the Alessandro downtown does not have air conditioning and the Alessandro Palace does!
