Hotel or B&B in Venice with charm and nice terrace?

Hello! My husband and I are spending 2 nights in Venice in June, and I've been looking through Steve's books as well as online for a Venice hotel/B&B to book, but am having a hard time choosing. Hoping someone might have a recommendation to make the choice a little easier. :)

My price range is roughly 150 Euro per night. No need for canal view, just relatively close to the action without being too loud (hubby is a light sleeper). Can be a small room, just want something that looks/feels "Venetician" with preferably a terrace (shared is totally fine) or a similar outdoor space where I can drink my coffee in the morning and soak it all in.

Thanks so much!!

Kristina,

I highly recommend Casa Rezzonico. We stayed there for three nights and it was wonderful. One of the few places in Venice with it's own little yard. A wonderful breakfast is included, and it's within walking distance of a great restaurant. It also is in a quiet part of town.

We stayed at Casa Rezzonico as well, last May, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I've recommended it many times to others. (We had a room with a canal view which we really liked. And the interior garden courtyard is lovely.) I have to say, though, that I'm not sure it's what Kristina is looking for, esp. if she wants a terrace with a view of any kind. Also, the belltower nearby rings fairly loudly four times an hour stopping at 11 pm each night. We found it charming but others, esp. light sleepers, might not.

Here are some photos I took of CR and its surroundings, in case you're interested:

Here's a cut-and-paste of my TripAdvisor review of the place (couldn't get the link to work):
We really loved this place. We requested a room with a view on the little canal that runs down to Campo San Barnaba (made famous as the place where Katherine Hepburn falls into the canal in "Summertime," for those of a certain age). Boy, were we glad we did. Being able to open the window out onto that canal was a highlight of our time in Venice. (Tip: The GROM in Campo San Barnaba makes outstanding gelato.)

The room was spacious and the bath was nice-sized, by Italian standards. Matteo and Mattia (brothers) were extremely helpful during our stay. They helped arrange for a tennis lesson on the Lido and made other reservations and recommendations for us. The lively Campo Santa Margherita is close by but far enough away so it doesn't interfere with sleeping.

There is a nearby bell tower that rings a lot but we found that charming. It stops ringing after 11 pm, if I remember correctly.

The charming garden is great for breakfast, and most of the tables are under a covered area, so no worries if the weather is a little drizzly as was the case for some of the three mornings we were there. They've got a nifty little automatic espresso/coffee machine that's fun to use and makes tasty drinks. We enjoyed the variety of foods available for breakfast, esp. some really tasty pastries.

We will definitely recommend this place to others. It was the most expensive place we stayed, but the rates were definitely comparable to other places in Venice, which is known for being pricey.

I can wholeheartedly recommend the flats (more like a small house in the case of the Corte) offered by Our Flats in Venice which are on Giudecca and have terraces and small garden. Although across the canal from the main sights they are less than ten minutes by vaporetto from St Marks etc.

Have a look at their website which is a mine of information and not just about the flats.

Looks amazing David, thanks. Looks like they require a 3 night minimum, and we're only staying 2, but I'll contact them to see if there are exceptions.

Wow, CR looks really nice too! Anyone know how early the bell starts in the morning? As long as it doesn't start chiming until 7 AM, shouldn't be a problem. We won't be asleep before 11 anyway.

Kristina, the bell at CR definitely doesn't start before 7. It might not start until 8 or 9, but definitely not before 7. If you do end up staying there, there is a great pizza place nearby: Pizzeria Al Profeta. Here's a photo of the entrance: https://flic.kr/p/9V1rcc

I also stayed at hotel Casa Rezzonico with my parents and we all enjoyed it. We chose it based on proximity to the vaporetto and the option of a ground-floor room. We loved the neighborhood, being near "our own canal" and "our own square," close to a local market at Campo St. Margerita, had all our dinners nearby, and enjoyed breakfasts in the garden (view just of the garden).
