Hello everyone,
I am renting a car and traveling in Tuscany for 3 days with our last stop in Pisa. I want to drop off my car and then stay in Pisa for the night as we have an early flight out to Ireland. Does anyone know where we can stay that is close to the airport but still allows us to visit the area the night before. We will not have our car ( that's my plan).
Thank you
Pat
I've never stayed in Pisa overnight, therefore I have no specific accommodations to suggest, however I want you to know that the airport is so close to the city center (less than 1 mile) that you can actually walk to it. Therefore you should try to find a place to your liking anyplace in the historical city center and you will be no more than 5-10 minutes away form the airport by taxi. There is also a shuttle bus that goes from the train station to the airport and viceversa in 5 minutes, however if you have luggage I suggest a taxi as the cost would be very little. The leaning tower and the Duomo are on the northern side of the historical city center. Since the airport is south of the city center from there to the airport would be a bit farther compared to the station, but still no more than an additional 5 minutes by taxi. I don't suggest walking from the leaning tower to the airport, especially with luggage, but believe it or not, it is doable in maybe 40 min walk (a taxi can cover the entire distance in 10 min max).
I'm spending my final night in Pisa on recommendation of my travel agent just in case of a strike I will be ready for my flight home. I wanted to stay near the tower however after reading up on the town and what my last hours in Italy would be like I chose a hotel near the train station. It seems to have the most popular streets for strolling in the evening and that sounds like a nice way to end my trip.
