Hotel or apartment in Sorrento in September

My wife and I will be traveling to Sorrento around September 24-29 with two children and one 16 year old grandchild. Looking for suggestions for an apartment , with two baths and three bedrooms or a hotel. Hotels seem somewhat pricey. We will not have a car and so would like to stay close to the old city.

Although it has some older buildings, most of Sorrento is a postwar, purpose-built, cliffside resort town, almost without beaches.. It books up six months in advance. I think you’ll still want air conditioning in September. We stayed at the pricey cliffside luxury hotel Ambasciatori, which was very nice. We had very few options for five nights in May; you could say it was our sixth-choice.

Good luck! Sorrento fills up very quickly. For about a decade I've stayed at Hotel il Nido (ilnido.it), which is above the town. The rooms overlooking the Bay of Naples (you can also see Vesuvius and Capri) are very comfortable. Check the prices, it may still be 'high season.' The breakfast buffet is excellent. The restaurant is my favorite in Sorrento. Sitting on the deck overlooking the bay is an amazing extra! The hotel has a shuttle (free) that will take you into town and bring you back. It runs early in the morning until a little after noon, then again from about 3 o'clock to nearly midnight. You definitely don't want a car but I suspect the shuttle (a large bus) will work just fine for you. Il Nido is family owned and run for a few generations. Gianni will take your online reservation and answer your questions. Dino, his brother, is almost always at the front desk. This is a wonderful place to relax because you are very welcome.

Thanks for the information. Booked two rooms at Hotel Il Nido. They were almost sold out.
