Hotel on murano

I am on an April Village Italy tour which leaves from Padua. I will be flying into Venice and intended to go directly to Padua but because of great difference in airfare I will be flying in 2 days earlier. I have spent time in Venice before and really don’t wish to drag luggage on the water taxi to a city center hotel for 2 nights.

I was thinking of staying at a hotel on Murano which claims to have a shuttle from the airport. Have any of you stayed on Murano before and if so how did you transport to Venice for the day?

Do you have other suggestions of where to stay that would allow me to easily / in expensively go into Venice during the day?

What would be easiest way to transport to Padua from the hotel in Murano?

Thanks much

For travel from Murano to Padua, a vaporetto to Fondamenta Nove, then change for a vaporetto from Fondamenta Nove to Ferrovia, then a half hour train ride.

Get the app Chebateo for planning vaporetto trips. For Marco Polo to Murano, google Alilaguna. Alilaguna ferries service Marco Polo, ACTV vaps do not.

Or maybe consider a hotel near Piazale Roma, a bus ride from Mrco Polo, and not far from Ferrovia, the train station.

The vaporetto connect Murano and Venice - several lines service Murano to Venice. There is a good site for the various routes with the 4.2 line selected: https://www.visit-venice-italy.com/water-bus-venice-line-42.html
Also check the 3 and the 7 which have fewer stops and are faster but only go to certain places.

If you are concerned about your luggage and your hotel has a shuttle from the airport to Murano then you could use that to get Murano and then take it back to the airport. The Alilaguna also serves this route with Murano being the first and last stop on the way to the airport.

From the airport take one of the two bus lines or a cab to Venice Mestre train station and then take the train to Padua. The slow regionale train is about 30 minutes to Padua/Padova and the fast train is about 15 for about 5x the cost. That choice is up to you.

You could also get a bus from Venice Airport to Padua/Padova and skip the hassle of the transition and that would be under an hour for the entire trip. This would probably be my choice for ease of only one transition and they also end at the train station.

Have a great trip,
