Hi! Im looking for reviews on Hotel Oceania. Ive looked in the search engine but had a few specifics that I havent seen mentioned before. What were the beds like? I saw a few reviews on tripadvisor complaining about bed bugs. How was the air conditioning? Im going in August so it should be on but I want to make sure it works well. Are there any specific rooms we should ask for- any floors that are better? Any good or bad reviews will be very helpful. Thank you!
We stayed there one night in Sept 2007, after four nights in the Hotel Aberdeen. We liked the Oceania a lot. Even though it does not appear as upscale as the Aberdeen, it was clean and comfortable. The climate control worked well (it was really muggy at the Aberdeen) and the breakfast was very nice. You'll need to take the elevator or stairs up (third floor I think) to get to the hotel entrance.
We've stayed at Hotel Oceania twice, once in the summer of 2005 and once in the winter of 2006 (oh how I love Rome!). The beds were comfortable and free of bedbugs. The rooms were well appointed. The air conditioning works well and kept us cool. There is only one floor of rooms, it is a small boutique hotel. The staff was always very welcoming and helpful and gave us some of the best dinner restaurant recommendations/reservations. We kept getting sent to wonderful restaurants so we stopped even trying to find one on our own. I can strongly recommend it!
You may also want to consider Hotel Aberdeen (same street). Have stayed there 2 times on Rick's recommendation, planning 3rd summer 2008.
Just got a quote for 105 euro for Aug 08
(RS rate double/bath/2 persons all texes with breakfast)
via firenze is close to Termini, metro and good base location for seeing Rome.
Friends stayed at Oceania 2007 and loved it, so either way you won't go wrong.
Good Luck,
David

Just got back from 14 days in Italy. We stayed at the Hotel Oceania when in Rome based on Rick's recommendations. We absolutely loved it!!! Great location, very friendly, helpful owners and staff make you feel like family!!! Accommodations were excellent!! As an added bonus, the workers on the grounds would be singing in beautiful melodious voices, the opera singers rehearsing in the church in the building, we knew we were in Italy. When we return to Rome, it will only be if we can book the Hotel Oceania.
My family and I stayed there in June. It was completely forgetable.
I stayed at the Aberdeen which is almost next door. The location and hotel is ok if you need to be by the train station but I much prefer the historic center by the Pantheon, Piazza Navona & Campo di Fiori. The ambience is so nice and not all the traffic
