I think I stayed a few doors down from it at Hotel Aberdeen so if i'm right I can only speak about the location. We love to stay in the historic center and only picked the Aberdeen as it was a fast two nights through Rome that trip(2008) and I wanted to be near the rail station. It didn't feel unsafe but it certainly had no ambience and as we enjoy the summer evenings we had long walks down to Piazza Navonna, Campo di Fiori and the Panthenon. So hopefully that was a little helpful. Depends on the season, how much time you've got and you're budget. In 2004 we had an apartment in Campo di Fiori for our family. Great location, no A/c but for more than two nights much more desirable for us.

We stayed at the Oceania a few years ago and while the room was nice, we did not like the location. It is too far away from the popular sites and restaurants. Campo Firori is a great area and walking distance to this area is where we prefer to stay. So much more charm in this location!

It is all a matter of perception, I guess. We always stay (4 times) in that area, Termini. We like the convenience to the train station and the transportation hub near the train station. It is a little out of the more touristy areas of Rome. Nice, local restaurants in the area. We can walk to most of the major attractions in less than 30 minutes and the Vatican around 45. We have stayed in the Aberdeen and Sonya. We slightly prefer the Sonya because we think it has slightly better breakfast. The Oceania would be fine.

We stayed at Hotel Oceania in March 2007 and really enjoyed our stay. The owner, Stefano, and his team (Anna, Radu, and Michael) were all super accommodating and had a real interest in making our stay enjoyable (and did a nice job of it!).

The hotel is located about a 10 minute walk from Termini and about a 10-15 minute walk to most major sights. The area felt safe and overall, we were very pleased with our choice to stay at Oceania.

And, as an added bonus, we actually ran into THE Rick Steves at the hotel on an afternoon he had stopped in to say hi to Stefano. Of all things...

My wife and I stayed at the Oceania several years ago and we liked the hotel. Easy to walk to from the termini and a nice walk to most sites. The subway stop was close by in order to go to the Vatican. It is on a quite street, which we thought was a plus. We found decent restaurants within a 10-15 minute walk (Hostaria Romana was one). The stroll at night helped us after a wonderful meal and the mandatory gelato..

echo what was said above; have stayed their twice and like the easy access to Termini. Its not too far to walk to the sites from there, either. If you look at tripadvisor you'll see it has lots of positive reviews.

Stayed at the Oceania in 05 and am returning this year. It was fine. Quad will be a little cramped but ok. Morning coffee was awesome.

Stayed at Oceania last May; loved it. Room (twin) was spacious, mini-fridge, air conditioning (new and very efficient). Staff couldn't be more friendly, helpful and although construction was going on to expand the Oceania to a part of the building adjacent to their 3rd?? floor lobby, only during the 8-4 hours.

Booked a Vatican tour through the hotel, marvellous, and the company picked you up at the door. There's a tiny church on the ground floor of the building (left by the main entrance) and one evening watched/listened for an hour while a tenor opera singer was practicing for an upcoming performance in the church; beautiful.

With four, it'll take a few trips with luggage on the typical cage-enclosed tiny elevator. Which by the way, is towards the back of the main floor lobby on your left. On arrival I walked by it several times before realizing and then 'there it is'.

We walked everywhere except the Colisseum area (taxi to, walked back), and the Vatican (tour bus). The Trevi and Spanish Steps were a bit of a struggle coming back uphill but found some shade, had a drink, rested our feet/legs 1/2 way up and no major problem. About 10/15 minute walk from Termini.

Stayed at Oceania twice in 2008 with my 13 yr old daughter and enjoyed both visits. Did not see the quad room however so I can't say how appropriate it is but the hotel is pleasant and being near termini is great. Akk major sights are easy walking distance except colloseum, but metro (2 stops) is a 5 minute walk. Several nice affordable restaurants in the area. Staff is great.

We stayed at Oceanic also - our room was huge - of course the bathrooms are small. I will always remember me hot and tired and just wanting a soda with ICE and Stefano bringing me a tiny bowl with 10 tiny ice cubes saying "you MUST be an American" LOL Great place - love the elevator

We just came home from a beautiful vacation in Rome. We were pleasantly surprised at the very comfortable accomodations at Hotel Oceania. Very clean, very accomodating. It felt like home away from home. The staff is very pleasant. Not sure about the quad room, but great location for us, close to Termini.
