My mom and I are arriving in Venice by train and I'd like a nice hotel within a short walk (not over a bridge please). I've booked Locanda Orsaraia but I'm having second thoughts since there is no view and I wanted something a bit nicer. Budget is up to $200 per night.
You might check http://www.abbaziahotel.com/ (no views but right next to the station. They have ground floor rooms
Built in an old abbey.
Also https://www.hotelgiorgione.com is easily accessible from one of the vaporetto stops (no bridges to cross).
Hotel Ca' D'Oro is probably also accessible without crossing any bridges (just a walk from the vaporetto stop)
You won't be spending much time in your room at all. You're going to be out and about seeing all of the sights in Venice. BTW, the Orsaria gets very good reviews.
Hotel Abbazia is an excellent property. We've stayed there several times and the staff is excellent. It's located a short walk from the stazione on a quiet calle (alley). The place is a former Carmelite Monastery refitted into a hotel.
Buon viaggio,
Have you ever been to Venice before?? The city is a bunch of little islands connected by small bridges.. You can't go far without going over a bridge......
Oh yes I've been before. I don't have a problem going over bridges, just going over them with a heavy suitcase.

My 2 cents...
Consider packing light on your trip, as it will be much easier for you to travel, especially if you plan to travel via train.
I traveled with my mom a few months ago, and since she is elderly, I ended up lugging around both (hers & mine) 20" carry-on roller suitcases. It's a good thing that they were small & light!
Some of the train stations have elevators but some do not & you will have to climb many stairs to get to the train tracks.
Have a wonderful trip!
I stayed at the Hotel Grande Canal the first time that I visited Venice and it was very nice. It is right across from the train station. I am going back this summer and have booked Hotel Antiche Figure. It is also near the train station and has good reviews. I have a reserved a room with a canal view (slightly over your $200 limit but not too bad).
I've stayed at the Hotel Continental, about 2 blocks from the train station, no bridges, Grand Canal view rooms, may be in your budget depending time of year.
