My daughter and son in law are invited to a wedding at the Vatican in October (cool right?!) ~ looking for recommendations of a hotel/B&B nearby less than $200 a night if possible. Thanks!
We stayed at Hotel Sant’ Anna, Via Borgo Pio, 133, (+39 06 68801602) which was about 5-10 minutes from St Peters Square. It is located on a pedestrian only street. Price was 180 euros a night when we were there in May, 2019. Excellent hotel, staff, breakfast and great location.
Thank you!
I just stayed at Hotel Museum on a Rick Steves tour. The hotel is steps away from the Vatican Museum entrance and just a few minute walk from St. Peter’s square.
I’ve not even been to Italy, but in asking this question to friends that have they rave about Hotel Bramante. It’s not supposed to be fancy but they really liked it. We’ve decided to stay in another neighborhood of Rome.
Hotel Museum may be too expensive for you but its one of my favorite hotels ever-the bfast and the location!
We’ve stayed 2X at Hotel Amalia and loved its location. Just a quick walk to the Vatican museum entrance in one direction and St. Peter’s square in the other. The rates are usually under 200€.

It looks very nice but unfortunately not available!
While I haven’t stayed in the Atlante Hotel, I’ve been inside and it is also very nice. It was a short walk from the Amalia and the Vatican.

EDIT: Oops I see that they have 3 hotels. I’ve been in the Atlante Star and recommending that one for its location.
