Looking for a hotel in $200+ range near San Marco. Any suggestions of ones you have stayed in and would return to. Also, has anyone stayed in the Residenza A Tribute to Music there?

Our RS Tour stayed at Hotel Mercurio in Venice. It was about a 5 minute walk to San Marco. I would stay there again when, not if, I return to Venice.

We always rent apartments in Venice, but if we wanted a hotel near San Marco ( which actually would not be our choice) it would be Hotel Flora.

I second what Lola says - there's no real reason to stay right near St. Marks. I stay about a 10 or 15 mintue walk from there. I focus myself and dollars on staying in something right on a canal with a nice view of the canal, hopefully including a balcony. Also - I get more for my dollar there renting an apartment. I've had 5 different apartments there - all fanstastic.
