hotel near Rome airport

There are a few hotels near the airport, but nothing moderately priced. If your flight is after 8:00 AM, then you can catch an early train to the airport and be fine. Otherwise, the most common tact is to have your hotal arrange a cab or other transort to the airort (you can also arrange yourself) and just stay in town. Rome has a flat fee of 40 euro from any point in Rome to the airport, a little more for off hours, which is not really much more than what you would pay for two people on the train. In the end, for about the same cost or less, you can stay in Rome, enjoy a last wonderful dinner and evening, and still make your flight.

Susan, the Rome Airport Hilton is connected to the Terminals, so you could walk to your departure gate (walk a feet from the front door, one floor up in a small elevator and then on the "moving sidewalks" directly into the Terminals). While it provides VERY convenient access to the Airport, I'm not sure if it would be considered "moderately priced"? Happy travels!

Susan, I suggest staying in town for your last night, a quick walk to the Trevi for coin throwing and a bowl of pasta, then get up early the next morning. We caught a cab for same price as train and veverything was easy. Enjoy your trip.

We just did this last week. We stayed at the Eurohouse Inn in Fiumicino (sp) which was very clean and the staff was very pleasant. Price for a triple was 150 Euros. It also has good reviews on Tripadvisor. Thay have an airport shuttle which costs 7.50 Euro per person. It took about 10 minutes to get to our departure terminal from the hotel. Unless you have a late flight, I'd stay near the airport.

The taxi fare to FCO from Rome is now a flat 45 Euro. I would spend your last night in the city center and have a memorable last night. Have your accommodation arrange a ride to the airport the next morning. The area around the airport is industrial.
