Looking for a decent hotel within a short distance from the train station as we are traveling from Ravenna to Milan by train, post a cruise in October 2025. And then taking a train to Varenna/Lake Coma for a day trip prior to flying back home to the states from Milan.

We are in Milan nearly every year and look forward to staying at the Berna. Great aperitivo in the bar, fabulous breakfast, nice people. The smallest rooms are, umm, very small so for more than one night, definitely trade up.

I recently stayed at Hotel Garda and it was fine -- convenient, clean, comfortable enough, reasonable price. It is very near the Berna.

Last year we stayed at Hotel Berna for a night before flying out from Linate. It was fine, but for our next stay my husband asked that we stay in a hotel with an in-house fitness room/gym. I chose the new IQ Hotel (2019 if I remember correctly) which in addition to the gym has a spa/wellness area, rooftop bar, and is closer to the station than the Berna. It has a “fabulous” rating of 9.0 on booking.com (I always check the reviews there but of course I book directly with the hotel). Berna has 8.4 for comparison, and Hotel Garda is similar..
The price is slightly higher than the Berna for our date in July..
