Hotel near malpensa airport in Milan

My daughter will be arriving at the train station in Milan at 10:30pm She catches an early flight the next morning back to the states. Is it safe for her to take a taxi by herself to the hotel that late?
Does anyone know of a hotel near the Malpensa airport or have any suggestions? Thank you

Dalena: My husband and I have stayed at the Hotel Cervo several times and have no complaints. If their restaurant is closed for lunch or dinner, there is a nice restaurant within a short walking distance and the food is quite good. There is nothing else to do in the neighborhood but the proximity to the airport and the shuttle are so convenient.

Dalena and Kent, CLICK HERE to see the shuttle schedule from Milan Centrale to Malpensa. You want the right schedule. I believe that Partensa da Malpensa = Departure to Malpensa.

I am not familiar with the hotels around Malpensa so I don't know if any have shuttles to the airport.

Kent, if you have a list of hotels, I can do a bit of research.

Here's more. I've located the Hotel Visconti in nearby Campo, Italy. It's #1 of 6 hotels in Campo. It looks like they have a free shuttle. CLICK HERE to see traveler reviews. Reception closes at midnight. I am not able to pull up a website for the hotel. CLICK HERE for more hotels in the Malpensa area. Arriving that late could be problematic.

As a last resort, she can sleep in the airport. I'm sure that that concerns you but its done a lot. There's even a website that explains how to do it and rates the airports. www.sleepinginairports.com. Looks like she's only going to be there for 6-7 hours.

Dalena,

To provide more specific information, it would help to know what time your daughter's "early flight" is, and which Terminal she'll be departing from?

A few suggestions for you. If it's possible to change her schedule, Kent's suggestion to arrive in Milano a bit earlier than 22:30 would be a good idea.

One Hotel she might consider (provided they have a vacancy) is www.thebesthotel.it which is a five-minute walk from Milano Centrale. I've never stayed there but it looks very comfortable and the price is right (considering she'll only be there a few hours). I would walk to the Hotel at that time of night, but your daughter might be more comfortable with a Taxi? If she decides to walk, taking a Map to the Hotel would be a good idea (perhaps the Hotel could pick her up?). If she stays with the original plan to arrive later at night, be sure to notify the Hotel that she will be a "late check-in"!

Depending on what time her flight is, the Malpensa Shuttle would be a good option. It leaves from a point just outside the side door (to your left with your back to the trains) and she can buy the ticket either from the Driver or at one of several places inside.

Just to clarify Larry's post above "Partensa da Malpensa" means Departure from Malpensa. The key words to look for are Partensa da Milano. Have a look at www.malpensashuttle.it/e-default.htm for all the details and schedule. It appears the first Coach departs Milano Centrale at 04:15 and arrives at Terminal 1 at 05:05. Hopefully that would work for your daughter?

When is your daughter's trip? I'll be there in a few weeks so will be able to offer more current information.

Hope this helps?

Happy travels!

Here's the link to the Hotel Visconti in Cardano al Campo. As Larry says, it has good reviews on Tripadvisor. I'll add it to my Malpensa hotel post.

Thank you everyone for all your suggestions. It was so helpful & much appreciated! My daughter is coming into Milan on an earlier train so that she can take the shuttle to the airport & get to her hotel safely.
FYI the last shuttle leaves the train station in Milan at 10:30pm
