Looking for a recommended hotel near the airport, as we have an early flight the next morning to New York.
Many thanks for the help
You want to find a hotel with a restaurant. We have always stayed at the FCO Hilton although once you walk in there, you feel like you’re back in the U.S.
Another vote for the Hilton at the airport that has a covered skywalkway connected to the airport. It’s not cheap, but the convenience and not needing a taxi has helped me get a good night’s sleep before the early flight.
The Hilton is by far the most convenient (for a price), connected directly to the airport and the Leonardo Express from Rome. There are others nearby (including a less expensive Hilton Garden Inn) with shuttle service, but I haven't stayed in them.
Another vote for the Hilton Rome Airport. We stayed there our last night in Rome two weeks ago. I was able to get a AAA discount, which reduced their normal rate. I really want to know, however, if the hotel or walkway came first?!?
We stayed at the Hotel Tiber in Fiumicino. They have a shuttle schedule, or you can take a cab (25E I think) if the schedule doesn't work for you. Restaurant in the hotel, and many more within walking distance.
The Hilton Garden Inn is less expensive than the regular Hilton, and has a 24 hour shuttle. We were quite happy there, (except for the fact the we were leaving) and they did have a restaurant.
They also offer AAA and Senior discounts.
Safe travels!
I truly appreciate your taking the time to provide recommendations. Thank you very much!
Yes, the Hotel Tiber, right on the waterfront; 8 minutes to FCO.
for ease, after tons of traveling, totally recommend AIRPORT HILTON. Was so easy in the morning to get up and walk to the gate. NO STRESS.
I also stay at the Airport Hilton if I have an early flight the next morning. Very convenient. Their restaurant leaves a lot to be desired, it’s expensive and the food below par, however if you walk to the terminals, the Rome airport has some great food choices even before the security checkpoints. Obviously the airport food concessions aren’t very cheap either, but in my opinion they are better than the Hilton airport restaurant.
The landside food court at terminal 3 is anchored by a branch of Eataly; there is also a cafe with decent panini, etc. Note that it takes at least 10 minutes to walk from the Hilton to the terminals.
Another vote for Hotel Tiber…we stayed there in October. We found a delicious pizza place on the next block - Pizza Al Porto, and a great gelateria around the corner. We did not try the hotel restaurant. I requested a balcony with a sea view, so we enjoyed our gelato with our final sunset in Italy. We would stay there again.
Their shuttle was 7€ per person to the airport, very easy and convenient. This was cheaper than the 25€ flat rate from the airport/train station to the hotel, as we were arriving from Orvieto.
