Hotel near Fiumicino Airport, Rome

The hotels near the Rome airport are priced out of sight!
With three of us traveling together it's also hard to find a triple. Any recommendations for that last night before a VERY early flight back to the USA? Thanks!

Just saw an earlier posting on this that I missed with some good info.

Sorry.

We have said many many times on this site, the hotels in Fiumicino know why you are staying with them. There is simply a non-ending line of travelers who fly early out of Rome-FCO (and Venice Marco Polo). The Hilton is especially expensive and said to be quite ordinary and not worth it.

I always suggest spending your last night in Rome. Get a more reasonably priced hotel and have a great dinner. Have your hotel make arrangements to have a shuttle waiting for you at 3:30 or 4:00. Should be about 40E-45E. The shuttles are dependable. I have never seen a traveler on this site post that their shuttle did not show. If you are flying back to the U.S. from Rome, you'll need to get to Terminal 5 about 3.0hrs early. Some get there 2.0hrs early and do fine. However, you can never tell when things get difficult.

I concur with Larry. Stay in Rome and have a great dinner. If your flight goes thru another European city, you only need to get to the airport about 1.5 hours before the flight. I used romashuttle for my 0430 pickup.

Lynda,
I am flying back from Rome in October. We too have a very early flight 5:55 a.m. to Amsterdam, then onto the states. I found two rooms at Hotel Italia in Rome. Transport to the airport is available 24 hours a day it's a 30 minute ride and cost is 50euro for 4 person. I agree with the others, stay in Rome and enjoy your last evening, get up early and start the journey back home. Happy Travels
