I'm planning hotels for a trip to Italy. I'd like to stay as close to the Rome airport as possible. Can anyone recommend a hotel with early transportation to the airport? Thanks!
Many posters here stay at the expensive on-airport Hilton, steps to an elevator to the actual concourse. Note that the off-airport hotels tend to use a third-party van company. Whether that's less reliable or not, I don't know. It does cost extra. One issue is last-night dining, which is better and available later off-airport. Our Hilton room backed up on an elevator shaft and was impossibly noisy.
There are also nice hotels in nearby Fiumicino, a beachside town 10 minutes from FCO. Most have shuttles to the airport, or will call you a taxi for the short ride. You can have a nice dinner in a nearby restaurant rather than a mediocre airport hotel restaurant.
I booked this hotel for a recent trip, but our plans changed and we did not fly out from FCO, so we do not have personal experience here.
Thanks for the tips. The idea of staying at the beach is tempting. I have an early flight, 8:30. Is getting a cab early, like 5:30 or 6:00 am an issue?
I stayed here the night before my departure from FCO.

A simple. yet clean, affordable option (paid $167), with the most gracious young host running his grandparents' property.
I took the train from Rome city center to the airport the evening before and Luca picked me up there. I also arranged for him to take me to the airport at 430am for an early departure. His shuttle service was 15 euros each way, per ride, not per person. Much cheaper than the cab fares I found. I opened my room door at 4:25am and Luca was at the bottom of the stairs waiting for me and carried my luggage to the van.

If the flight goes to a non Schengen destination, you might want to consider leaving the hotel a bit earlier, especially if you have checked bags.
We just got back from a trip to Italy. We spent the last night at a little B&B in Fiumencino and then returned our rental car the next morning before our flight. I think it was like 7 minutes on Google maps to get to the airport. Wherever you stay I’m sure they can arrange for a shuttle to take you whenever you need to go. One nice thing about Fiumencino is there are a lot of good seafood restaurants for dinner right along the waterfront. Good luck with the trip!
We will return in early March to Hotel Tiber Fiumicino for the evening prior to an early flight. Booking directly with the hotel on 12/11/2024, the double room rate without breakfast was 98.10 euro. In late October, 2023, we paid $144.91 through Expedia for a large, quiet and comfortable room there. The hotel sent good directions for locating the shuttle bus stop at the Rome FCO airport; a YouTube video is also available to show the way from the terminal to the stop. The shuttle took about 20 minutes and cost 7 euro pp/ in 2023, payable at the hotel. Because we had a very early flight the following morning, we reserved the shuttle to depart the hotel at 5am, before the normal shuttle service (or hotel breakfast) began. The early hour surcharge was 15 euro total for 2 of us, I believe. Hotel staff were very accommodating, even contacting me several weeks after our stay to offer to send a small purse I had left in the dining room after dinner.
