We are renting a car in Palermo, traveling to Trapani (staying 2 nights) then on to Agrigento area before moving onto Siracusa (hope to stay on ORtigia). I am looking for hotel recommendation which isnt too difficult to get to, and where we can park our car overnight.. Do we stay outside of the town? Is one night enough to day tour, or do we need 2? If we stay 2 nights is 4 nights enough in Siracusa-again day trips up the eastern coast and flying to FCO on the last day. Hotel does not need to be fancy, can be agristurismo, b and b or hotel. My main concern is parking as I suspect anything inside the town limits may be difficult
Thanks for any insight and recommendations if you've stayed.
I get nervous about making recommendations because people have such different expectations. So do some checking on your own. We absolutely loved the agriturismo we stayed at near Agrigento, but as the lovely, personable hostess said, "We don't get posh people". You will find it in the Rick Steves' guide, Fattoria Mose'. It's relatively inexpensive, but our room and bathroom were huge. Breakfast ample with lovely views. We did dinner with her both nights. The first night we ate with her family and the second we ate with about 15 other guests. We have special memories of both meals.
Oh, and there is plenty of parking amid olive and fruit trees.
On our driving tour of Sicily in 2022, we stayed 2 nights on Ortigia and 2 in Agrigento which worked perfectly as we were not interested in Siracusa. On Ortigia we stayed at Charme Hotel Henry’s House. There is short term parking available nearby for unloading and checkin and there are several long term parking lots on the island within easy walking distance (everything on Ortigia is within easy walking distance). The view from the breakfast terrace is beautiful and breakfast was great. From there we drove to Villa Romana del Casale en route to Agrigento. In Agrigento we stayed at B&B Terrazze di Montelusa. Parking there was on the street but both days we easily found a spot plus our kind host, Francesco, was eager to help as well. Terrazze di Montelusa has several terraces two of which have views of the ancient temples. After a fabulous breakfast, we spent the day at a lovely nearby beach and were at the temples at dusk into dark which was a highlight of our trip (highly recommend!).
Have a great trip!
