Just wondering if anyone has stayed at the Hotel Monterosso in Monterosso & if you can tell me if there are steep stairs or a steep walk to get there from the train station or boats in Monterosso. Any feedback on the hotel also greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Sheron:
Stayed there in the fall of 2007. Very nice hotel. Clean, modern and comfortable. The breakfast was nice. Just a little more than we typically spend but we felt like we got our money's worth.
The hotel itself is on the main drag of Monterosso old town (I think it is Via Roma). It is quite a ways from the train station (500 meters or more)- the train station is in the "new town". There is an incline but it is not too bad (we wheeled our luggage all the way from the parking area near the train station - no sweat). The last 50 meters is a little steep. No stairs or barriers that I recall.
There are several hotels of varying quality in the New town near the station - but remember - they are near the station and the trains run all the time. If you are a particularly light sleeper those hotels may not be for you.
One last thing about Monterosso - do your self a favor and eat at Ciak - I am still happily recalling their signature fish stew. Yum Yum.
Have fun.
