Hotel/Lodge in Venice in May

My husband and I are visiting Venice in May for the first time. Well, be staying there for 3 nights and have budgeted $100(CAD) per night( including breakfast) for lodging. Is that realistic?

I'm not sure where to start so want to know good neighborhoods to looks for hotels in which are close to the water taxi routes. If you have stayed in any hotels/airbnbs you have stayed in previously... please do recommend.

That’s only about 70 euros a night
Not realistic at all for a Venice in May
You might find an Airbnb for that but as first timer it’s highly recommended that you stay in a hotel with a front desk

Others options are convent stays

Good place to start your search is booking.com
Set your filters and see what you find

We love Hotel Ala but it’s way above your budget

You don’t need to be “close to water taxi routes” you might mean vaporetto route which is basically a water bus
Pretty much anywhere in Venice is water taxi accessible as all the “roads” are water
Water taxis are $$$$$, vaporetto are not

You don’t even need to be on Grand Canal

Looking at your 2 posts causes concern about your plans

Not sure I would stay in a place in Venice that can be had for 70 euro. Most of what I saw had a shared bathroom.

Trying to do Amalfi Coast as a day trip from Rome is a brutally long day, and unlikely to be cheap.

What is your overall trip plan? Total budget; number of nights; planned destinations.

I may be in error, but I sense you are trying to do too much in too little time.

I get the same feeling as Joe. May I recommend against the Amalfi day trip and use that money to upgrade your budget for Venice? I just went through a hotel search myself a couple of weeks ago for my first trip to Venice also in May (May 22 to be exact). I'm not saying it's impossible but it is low and like mentioned I think you'll have a shared bathroom for that budget. And I found Airbnb to be on par almost price wise with hotels once you add in all the fees.

I'm Canadian too, and have been to Venice a few times.
We used to look for accommodation at around E100 per night.
Nowadays it's more like E175 per night.
If you are only there 3 nights, make sure to book a place on the island itself, and NOT in Mestre or Lido.
You want to experience lovely evening walks.
I'm agreeing with the others, who say you will not find a decent place to stay at CAN$100 per night.
However, you could just rent a room in someone's already occupied apartment, through AirBNB, and save money that way.
I would not, myself; but I like my privacy.
Try Monastery stays, they seem to be the cheapest, and sound really good!
You can walk everywhere, and vaporetti are the equivalent of a local bus when in Venice.

I stayed at Istituto San Guiseppe, a nicely located nun run accomodation. Listed on Monasterystays.com for about 105 Euro per night. Monasterystays has their fee built in, so you might contact it directly and be close to your budget
