Hotel located centrally in Rome

I think I want to stay centrally located in Rome. I need to make reservations very soon. Can someone recommend a hotel that is nice. Want to make it less than 150. night if possible. Close to transportation. Tried to do a search but it seemed the recommendations were old ones.
Thanks

The Modagliani may be in your price range and is well liked on other travel boards. Also Smeraldo and Parlemento are two others you can look at. Most of Rome is quite walkable.

I highly recommend HOTEL SAVOY. I went to Rome (alone) for a week last year and loved it. Located perfectly for everything....right on Via Ludovisi. 5 minute walk to Borghese etc. Hop on Hop off Bus stops right down the street.
5 min walk to Spanish Steps. Food magnificent at hotel restuarant upstairs ON The Roof !! What a view. ENJOY

My daughter and I stayed at Hotel Sonya this past December and I highly recommend it. In fact, we are returning and plan to book with them again. It is near-but not too near-the Termini. It is perfectly located so that you can walk to almost everything you may want to see. It was well priced and had an excellent and friendly staff. I believe it is family owned and run so you get a personal touch. A lovely continental breakfast was included during our stay. Our room was spacious-for Europe-with a large bathroom with a typically small shower. It even had a small refrigerator. Good luck and enjoy Rome!
ps It has an elevator. Just in case you do not want to take the stairs.

Liz, last May we stayed in the Hotel Sonya near the Termini. Good rate for central Rome but I cannot remember the exact cost. On the good side of the Termini, about 5 Mins. walk but also only about 20 minutes walk to major attractions. If you don't want to walk the Nazionale is 2minutes away with many different buses, Bill.

Hotel Aberdeen 5 minute walk to Termini. Very clean, pleasant staff & good breakfast. Fifteen minutes to Trevi fountain etc. Safe neighborhood. Approximately 100 euro per night with breakfast. Recommended by Rick Steeves, that is how I found them. We stayed there 2011 and are staying again in August.

Liz, I agree with previous suggestions for either Hotel Sonya or Hotel Aberdeen. Both are located close to Termini, so very convenient for transportation. Both are clean and comfortable, with good breakfasts and great staff. Happy travels!
