Has anyone stayed at this hotel in the past few years? I just booked 4 nights in Sept. for 5 people so 2 rooms. Reviews look excellent. We want to stay in the middle of Rome. Do you have any other hotel recommendations. We do not want to do AirBnB. Want a place with breakfast, bar and places to hang. Thank you in advance.
I stayed at the Hotel Lancelot for two weeks last March and liked it so much that I am going back for a week next month. It is three or four blocks from the Coliseum but not anywhere close to what I would consider the center of Rome. It was within easy walking distance of most sites and you can also use the Metro to save some time. It was where the RS Best of Rome in 7 Days Tour was staying.
The Hotel has a bar, lounge area, small library room, large dining room, and a small terrace area on the top floor or roof (I did not see it myself). There is a great breakfast selection. The room I stayed in was nice and well kept. They do provide laundry service if you need it.
The owner, Mrs. Khan, is an American who moved to Rome in 1959 with her husband and started the Hotel on one floor of their current building. Her daughter helps run the place and her son is a French trained gourmet chef. He does wonderful dinners there.
I highly recommend it.
I like this area, beside the metro , you also have good bus service.
Some wonderful churches in the area too.
Within a mile, most of central Rome sites.
