Hotel Lancaster, Milan?

I'm still waffling about a hotel in Milan for next summer after our Village Italy tour. Has anyone stayed at the Hotel Lancaster? It's reasonably priced (€70 - €115 per night, with breakfast) and closer to the center. The reviews on Trip Advisor are almost all raves - one negative and one so-so.

We'll probably end up at the Garda, but DH would rather be closer to the center, just for the ambiance. Our budget is probably up to about €125 or so a night. Under €110 would be great.

Thanks.

You might look on this site under Hotel & Restaurant Reviews. Also under Trip Reports.

(The one time I stayed in Milan it was in a convent. Spotless, quiet, cheap -- but you had to be in by 10 when they locked the doors.)

I looked at the reviews and personally I would disregard that one bad one. It is the only one the guy ever wrote which is a good sign it is fake. He complains about the broken elevator without mentioning that it was fixed by the second day.

And the bedbugs? Many reports of bedbugs are false. And he got them the second night, not the first??? How does that work? If they were in fact bedbug bites, he must have brought them with him because they were not there the first night. More likely they were some other kind of bite he got during the day.

My guess is that he demanded a refund for his stay due to the broken elevator the first day, and held out the threat of a bad review. The hotel declined, and this review is his retaliation. Ignore it.

Sasha, I think you're right. Did you notice that in the manager, in his response, addressed the elevator but not the bedbugs? So I was a bit suspicious, as well.
