Hotel Italia

This will be my first trip to Italy. A friend and I were thinking about staying at Hotel Italia in Rome. We are 2 women in our 30's. My main concern is safety - walking to and from transportation. Is this a good place to stay?

My husband and I stayed here 4 years ago and found it to be in a good location - about 10 minute walk from the Termini, on a quiet street, just a block walk to public transportation. We felt very safe there.
The staff speaks English and were very helpful. The breakfasts are very nice . Rooms are nothing extra special but were clean and comfortable.
When you book don't forget to mention Rick Steves as they will give a discount (it was 10% for us).

I'm also a single gal and stayed at Hotel Italia in 2003 and would stay there in a heartbeat again. Easy walk from the Termini station and I felt safe the entire time. I'm thinking of taking another trip to Italy and will stay at Hotel Italia for sure.

Suzy, I checked in to Hotel Italia earlier today.

It was about a 15 minute walk from Termini stazione. You will pass by a Metro stop Republica which is the closest transportation to the hotel. Bus stops are on nearly every corner.

This hotel is in an excellent location and you can walk just about anywhere.

The hotel is on a street off Via Nationale (you turn left on to Via Venizia and it will be on your right). There is a small sign and you ring the hotel door bell and they will buzz you in. You walk down the hall and back on your right will be a hallway that takes you to a very small lift to take you to the first floor lobby to check in.

I can give you more detail later via private message.

Ciao for now!

I am travelling in the fall. How did you get from the airport to the hotel. Price. Are you able to walk in safety.

After you collect your baggage, you walk up several levels to the train station. You buy a 11 Euro triain ticket and catch the 35 minute train into Rome. They run ever half hour. While waiting for the train, I purchased my point to point train tickets for my entire trip which saved me time and worry.

Suzy,

My husband and I just got back from Italy last weekend and spent 4 nights before leaving at the Hotel Italia in Rome. We enjoyed it very much, very clean, very compact rooms, ample breakfast buffet. All the staff was very helpful (say Hi to Nadine for us). Alas, we didn't know that there was a Rick Steve's discount or we would have asked. Saw a lot of other guests walking around with a Rick Steves book.

Friday morning, we walked from the hotel at 6 A.M. to Termini and felt very safe. It took us ± 15 minutes. Also felt more than safe walking there at night.

Have a nice trip!

Maureen

I can also endorse the Hotel. The staff is wonderful and if you have RS book, and pay cash you get a wonderful break on the room that you will promptly spend on gelato. There is a neat little restaurant around the corner called EST! EST! EST!...best tiramisu ever.
