We will be staying 11 days in Italy and then taking the night train from Florence to vienna. We are staying in vienna for 5 nights. We do not know where to stay. We plan to see an opera and do a day trip down the Danube. First what part of the city is the best to stay in. Next does anyone have some reccmmendations for a mid price pobably a 4 star hotel or even a bed and breakfast that anyone has stayed at and loved and would stay again.
Thank you
We arrived in Vienna by train and walked to the Ibis hotel, about a fifteen minute slow walk. Either an Ibis hotel map or a map of central Vienna will be a help. There are other hotels in that area. Outside the back door of the hotel is a neat little Italian cafe where we had two suppers.
Thank you for your reply. We are trying to book everything ourselves and had no idea what hotel would be good. We will check this one out.
We followed Rick Steves' advice a few years ago and stayed at K&T Boardinghouse. They've since added a second location close by. K&T is very reasonably priced @ 79 Euros, and the address is fantastic. Tina and Kaled are great hosts. See: http://www.ktboardinghouse.at/
We'll be back in April, and will be staying at their new location.
Since your question is about Vienna, I suggest posting it in the To the West forum, instead of this one about Italy.
We loved this hotel, in the very heart of medieval Vienna (just behind Stephansdom and actually physically attached to the Mozart house museum). Konig von Ungarn.
-Wonderful breakfast, charming oldworld hotel.
