hotel in vernazza

We are hoping to stay in the cinque terre in 2 weeks. I would like to stay in vernazza, but it is very hard to know where to go since several from Rick's books (that were in our price range) are gone or not opened yet. Can anyone recommend a place they have stayed at recently and are happy with? Preferrably under 150 euros for 2. Thanks so much for all the help you have all already given!

Rachel, Have you checked the Vernazza list for businesses which are currently open? A few HelpLine members have travelled in that area in the past few weeks, so hopefully they'll have some good suggestions for you. Good luck and happy travels!

We just got back and like you had wanted to stay in Vernazza but ended up staying in Manarola and really enjoyed it. We stayed in a top floor apartment at Giovanni Rooms B&B - giovannirooms@hotmai?l.it. Great view from balconies, very clean, and modern. His mother also rents rooms in Vernazza. Both can be viewed on www.francamaria.com One word of advice. Don't walk from Monterosso to Vernazza unless you are in great shape. We could not believe all of the steps and how steeps the climb was. Great views but very challenging.

It wasn't working out with Vernazza, and I didn't want to get stuck, so I checked with Manuel's Guesthouse in Monterosso. They were booked, but recommended the agritourismo Uliveto. We couldn't find anything about it on the website, but decided to go with Lorenzo's recommendation, and hopefully we have a nice stay! Thank you so much for your help everyone!

Rachel, It's great to hear that you've got something booked. Although Uliveto nel Parco is up the hill aways, I believe it's only about a 10-minute walk to town along a nice path. The views look incredible, and it gets fantastic reviews. I'm sure you'll have a great time in Monterosso. Once you get settled in your room, you may find yourself wishing that you had booked at least double the time there! If you happen to be in the "old town", I'd highly recommend having dinner at L'Alta Marea (it's a short ways up from the beach on Via Roma). You might also try Cantina di Miky in the "new town" which has sidewalk tables overlooking the beach. Be sure to try fresh Pesto in the area where it was invented, and also Sciacchetra' (a sweet wine - unique to the area). You may enjoy watching This Short Video of Vernazza. Happy travels!

I just wanted to say that we ADORED our stay at Uliveto nel Parco and highly recommend it! And Ken, thanks for the recommendations, I tried sciacchetra and loved it at Miky's, and also had pesto both at Mikys and at our agritourismo. Yum! A fantastic vacation :).
