We want to spend a day in Malta before a cruise next April. What is the best hotel in area and is that a good location cruise disembark? Valets looks beautiful

I spent three days in Valleta/ Malta this past May. Very pretty. Be prepared for steep hills. Most of the Valletta hotels are uphill from the cruise port. You will probably need to take a taxi or Uber to get to your selected hotel. Many of the hotels are in a pedestrianized area and your cab will drop you off as nearby as possible. I usually stay in modest b&bs but in Valletta we splurged and stayed at a very nice hotel, The Embassy Valletta hotel. It had a lovely rooftop restaurant where breakfast was served and the views were amazing. There is so much to see and do in Malta that one day means you have to prioritize. The St. John's Co Cathedral is spectacular. The views from the Upper Barakka Gardens are lovely. Great strolling around that whole upper area. Can you add an extra day before your cruise so that you can see more than just Valletta. We did a one day island tour that was very reasonable and took us all around the island. Mdina and the scenic views are beautiful. This is a link here to that company if interested.
