Hi there, My fiance & i will be traveling for our honeymoon in the end of April. our first stop is rome and while we've decided we want to stay in the Trastevere neighborhood, we would love some recommendations on where to stay... our top three choices are these: 1. Arco del Lauro 2. Hip Suites
3. WRH Trastevere we'd love to hear what others think about those hotels as well as any other recommendations on where to stay in this neighborhood. we're trying to keep the hotel under $200 (150 euro). thanks!
In Trastevere the main pedestrian drag is along Via della Lungaretta. It runs to the main piazza - Santa Maria in Trastevere which is always hopping in the evening. Keep in mind, though, that along that street and especially on that piazza, there is a lot of street noise and take that into account if you're considering a room that opens onto either the street or the piazza. Viale di Trastevere is the main car road and runs perpendicular to Lungaretta. It is very heavily trafficked with cars. I suggest looking for someplace just off Lungaretta. Have a wonderful time. We loved Trastevere. We rented an apartment right on Lungaretta. Fortunately it had soundproofed windows. And we had earplugs and Ambien. :-)
carla, You might consider This Hotel in the Trastevere area (not too far from Piazza Trilussa). It's very comfortable and the staff is wonderful! Their rates seem to be in the general area that you mentioned. I didn't really find too much of a problem in getting to the main tourist sites from there. Some are "walkable" and there are Trams close by. Congratulations and happy travels!
