Hotel in Sorrento, Italy

I am planning a short 2 nights stop in Sorrento with my teenager daughter and would like recommendations for a nice hotel. I would like something either close to Piazza Tasso or in an area close to the center but perhaps with water view so she can enjoy more. I was checking out Casa Astarita which Rick recommends but everyone seems to talk about too much noise and not being able to sleep. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Check out La Tonnarella. It might be too far from the center for you. It's on Via Capo, a few minutes' walk from town. But, it's right on the water, and they have a private beach.

We stayed at Casa Astarita in May of 2007 and had a room that had a balcony that overlooked the main street. They close it to traffic at 19:30 each evening and don't open until next morning, so no traffic noise. We didn't notice that much noise even being right on the main street and the room also had AC. They also have rooms not on the main street which would be even quieter. We enjoyed our stay there for 3 nights.

Ivette, I was in Sorrento last month, and stayed at Hotel Desiree, which shares a driveway and beach with La Tonnarella mentioned in a previous post. It's a "classic" RS-style hotel (no frills), and the owners are wonderful! It's reasonably close to Piazza Tasso, so not hard to walk. Check Rick's book for all the details.

Happy travels!

We have stayed at both Casa Astarita and the Desiree.
We like them both. We have fond memories of the Hotel Desiree because our daughter was married in Positano and the whole wedding party stayed at the Desiree. They were wonderful to us and very very helpful.

I highly recommend La Tonnarella. We love this hotel! We've been there twice and we'll be there again in 3 wks.
