and had a very pleasant stay. It is very close to everything. Right next to the Domenican Church, easy walk to Il Campo,very close to restaurants and cafes and city center. It is actually part of the Sancuary of St Catherine, and a working nunery. Very reasonable rates.

I also would recommend the Alma Domus, right down the hill from the church of San Dominico and part of the sanctuary built at the site of the home of St Catherine. I had a lovely view of the basilica from my room, and there's a pleasant patio area out front. However, just to avoid surprises... please be aware that it provides very simple, retreat house style rooms (although with a relatively elaborate continental breakfast). Some people at the front desk spoke English, some didn't.
