Hotel in San Marco or near train station

Hi all of you helpful RS enthusiasts

We arrive in Venice Aug. 26 for only 2 nights and I am seeking advice on where to stay. I will be taking the train to Florence Aug. 28. I booked the hotel Al Codega in San Marco and hotel Ca’ San Rocco between the train station and the Leonardo da Vinci museum. My question is what are your recommendations ? I have stayed at the Al Codega in the past and loved everything about it. However, we will be leaving via train early in the morning and want to know if it really makes a difference or am I thinking toooooo much? I want to not have to worry about getting to the train station in time.
TIA

If it does not blow your budget, staying further from the station and catching a water taxi in the early morning will be a far more enjoyable experience. Something within easy walking distance to San Marco (directly in San Marco would be a little too hectic for my tastes)
Certain your hotel can arrange for a reliable water taxi to pick you up at anytime in the morning.

Although I do not have a money tree... what is the approximate cost of the water taxi? Also why do you think staying near the train station is not a good option? The hotel Al Codega is located in San Marco in a quiet area.

For me, it would be the San Rocco. I like that part of the world around the Scuola San Rocco/ Frari. My favourite bar in Venice is the Al Archivo, in front of the Frari, just over the bridge, and I have stayed in an apartment there a couple of times, about four weeks in total.

I don’t see proximity to San Marco as being a great attraction for a repeat visitor.
