I am going to Italy in October and will be flying in and out of Rome (Rome International Airport - Fiumicino). I am going back to Rome Friday before my flight on Saturday morning and would like to get a hotel near the airport with access to public transportation. If time permits I hope to work in a visit to Ostia Antica Friday afternoon. Any suggestions on a reasonably price hotel or B&B. Thanks in advance. Mary

Mary, someone may have a good suggestion but I just researched this for my daughter's trip in June. If you use the search bar, you will find a lot of good information already here on this question. Your own decision may depend on what time your flight is and what terminal you will fly out of. There are some airport hotels (not as many as you might think) but it's also possible to catch early morning bus or train back to the airport from Rome itself. Some of the hotels in Ostia Antica (if you opted to stay there) said they have an airport shuttle - just be sure to check the times. The answer for my daughter was to spend the last night in Rome, have dinner in a wonderful place, and have cab service scheduled for an early morning flight (since it was too early for the busses and train).

Spend the night in Roma and splurge a little. You can arrange for a taxi or use a limo service for about the same price. You can also use the Leonardo Express from Stazione Termini. Last year we used romashuttle.com and were very pleased with their service. It was door to door service.

There are limited but expensive hotels located at the airport with no public transportation other than the train/buses to the airport. Personally we stay in Rome near Termini and take a shared shuttle to the airport. Very convenient and at most takes about an hour. The hotel arranges the shuttle.
