Looking for recommendations for a nice, centrally located hotel in Rome for a September trip. Hoping for someplace reasonably priced, close to the A metro line.
Many thanks,
Jane

Impossible to know what “reasonably priced” means to you

Skip being close to the metro line. There is only two routes and they are not convenient. If you want access to transit, stay in the Termini area -- Easy access to buses and trams. We have use Hotel Aberdeen, Contilla, and Sonya just across from the Opera House is a couple blocks closer to Termini. If reasonable for you, I have no idea. Our preference is the Sonya because wife thinks the lattes are better. If so, very small difference. We like the Termini area for convenience to transit, restaurants, etc. but it is a little off to the side of the central area. But everything is very walkable.
My wife and I stayed with the Sisters of St. Elizabeth at their convent last December and were pleased, when we go back we will stay there again. It cost 96 Euros per night with a 4 Euro per person per night tax. Breakfast is included. Make sure you have a translation app since the Sisters don’t speak English but language was a non issue for us. We only needed translation one time when paying our bill. Lots of food, gelato and laundries close by. There is no air conditioning if that is an issue. Reservations were made by email, there was no deposit required when reserving a room but they aren't the fastest when replying to emails so be patient, it maybe a couple days till you get a reply.

It’s a 1 minute walk to St. Mary Major church,10 minute walk to Termini train station, 10 minutes to the National Museum of Rome,10 minutes to the Cavour Metro line A stop, 15 minutes to the Colosseum and 25 minutes to the Trevi Fountain.
Recommend the IT Italy taxi app, it works flawlessly, just watch the drivers self tipping by rounding up the fare without asking.
Popular with the RS forum is the Smeraldo hotel. Easy walking to major sites like Colosseum, Pantheon, Victor Emmanuel Monument, Forum etc, Ghetto, Piazzas, museums etc There is a major bus hub just down the street. Metro does not work for getting around Rome. Every time they try and build a new line they find another major ruin that has to be excavated first! Bus and walking are the best way to get around.
