Recomendations for hotel in Rome, will be staying 14 nights. Like large rooms, close-in for walking. Day trip recomendations. Been to Rome before for a week and loved it and got to go back. Been to Pompei. Thanks in advance. (will start vacation on October 4)
Here is the hotel Rick Steve's tourgoup uses. Hotel Sonya http://www.hotelsonya.it/ Prices are reasonable -- not cheep though. The service seems a bit above par... they were offering a free laptop for your stay. I'd check to see if they off that to all guests. Another that came very highly recommended is: Hotel Camop De' Fiori http://www.hotelcampodefiori.com/inglese/hotel.htm (English section of their site) Reservations this time of year may be $$$, but wow... I saw the rooms and talked to a recent guest. Couple good choices.

Correction on the prior post... free laptop to USE during your stay. ;-)
It is now the law in (at least Rome), hotels must provide either free use of a PC or laptop--we were in Rome last November and it was posted in our hotel's lobby.
Try Nicolas Inn, www.nicolasinn.com. Jerry, I've never heard of that law but I guess things are changing!
There is no law that requires hotels to provide a computer or laptop in Rome. Don't expect one at your hotel. There is a law that any hotel/internet cafe providing internet service to the public must record the identification of anyone using the computer.
