Hotel in Ravenna

We will be driving from Venice to Southern Tuscany (near Pienza) this summer and thought we'd take an extra day and spend the night in Ravenna. Can anyone recommend a hotel that has parking available but is in the center of town or at least easy walking to the sights? Doesn't have to be anything fancy but would like AC and really don't want to have to haul our luggage up a lot of stairs for one night. I should say it's just for the two of us - both in our upper 60's

Thanks for any suggestions.

One hotel that you might consider is Hotel Italia, which I believe has some parking available. I found it to be very comfortable, and within walking distance of the main sights.

On our trip to Italy we stayed at Casa Masoli B&B in Ravenna. They have a deal with an auto repair garage across the street for parking. No elevators but I do not remember a lot of floors. A very nice place and it is an easy walk to all of the sights.
Also, you could do what we do when only spending one or two nights, and that is to pack what you need for that short time for the both of you in one suitcase and only take that one into the hotel. We even do that when on the road in the US.

In 2014 we stayed at Hotel Centrale Byron. The prices are VERY good, under 70/euro per night. The location was perfect for sightseeing. They have an elevator, AC and great breakfast. If I remember, there is parking around the corner. They will let you park in front to drop off your luggage. We also took the train into Bologna from here. It was easy, and a nice day trip. If you go to Bologna, you MUST try the white chocolate tortellini candies....amazing! Ravenna is a beautiful little town. There is a great shop that makes beautiful mosaic vases, picture frames and large mirrors. We did buy a large mirror and had them ship it back to Seattle. Great prices. I cannot remember the name. PM me, and I will look for it! I have spent quite a bit of time in these areas, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Enjoy the trip.

Second rec for Hotel Centrale Byron. One entrance is on the main street. Restaurant Bella Venezia next door was great.

Another vote for Casa Masoli. Beautiful building, great breakfast, centrally located, walking distance to most sights and restaurants. Owner was very helpful.

If you want to see the superb mosaics, you'll need at least a full day. Do not skip the church in Classe. The town is charming, worth spending a little time and there are other sights. Consider staying 2 nights. Walking from sight to sight is very easy, they are close to each other and the ground is paved and level.

For a night (or two :-), consider packing a small overnight bag and leaving the bulk of your luggage in the car trunk.

We enjoyed our stay at the Albergo Cappello in Ravenna. The staff were fantastic and very helpful throughout our stay (the clerk waited to meet us at 12:15 AM when we encountered a train strike the day of travel), nice, big room, breakfast, the snacks at happy hour could have made a meal. AC, elevator, and wifi. Parking may be available nearby for 13 euro per day, but I just saw that somewhere (booking.com website?).... We used the train, at least when it ran. We spent a few days. It's a pretty town and the mosaics were extraordinary. Good luck and safe travels.
