Following our Venice/Florence/Rome tour, we’re staying 3 extra nights in Positano. Any recommendations for a decent hotel close to Naples airport? The reviews are scaring me. No need for sight seeing, as it’ll be for the one night before a 6 am flight. Thank you!
Naples' airport is 30 minutes away from downtown, maybe 20 minutes in the early morning. I am surprised there are hotels close to the airport, decent or not.
You could pick an hotel in Chiaia district and spend the last night on the waterfront. Ask the concierge to book a taxi and leave around 4 AM.
Tell the driver you want the fixed fare, otherwise it will be on the meter.
Stay in Naples proper (i.e. centro). Enjoy a last dinner in town. No need to be afraid or to avoid Naples.
Stay in the city center, Capodicino airport is
4.6 Km. Should take around 12 minutes unless there’s a line at the little toll booth ( which is not included in the fixed taxi rate).

Ah, Positano! What a dream! Make sure you go to Franco’s for an Apertif before dinner. Get there early as the seats go fast. Iconic picture taking opportunities, too!
Stay in the city center near Piazza del Plebiscito/Via Chiaia.
The airport is so close to the city center that you can hear the noise from the airplanes. I don’t even think a taxi will need 20 minutes to get you there at that time in the morning. It’s less than 4 miles from Piazza del Plebiscito to the airport terminal.
Agree with the others. On my Amalfi area trip, my last night was in Naples, and I stayed in town (Started my trip in Naples, as I find the city exciting - I know not all do). Stay in center, get some great pizza, and enjoy the vibrancy of this oft maligned city!
