I’ve finally settled on the itinerary for our April trip! Hubs and I fly into and then stay in Rome for 5 nights - need help with hotel please. Next on to Minori for 6 nights - VRBO is booked. Ischia for 6 nights - apartment booked also. We end our 3 week adventure in Naples at Piazza Bellini Hotel for 3 nights before flying home.
I think I want us to stay in Monti area of Rome. This is our first time for Rome, so of course it’s a bit daunting. Can you please recommend hotels for that area?
PS. Hotel Smeralda is already full that week.
I too decided on the Monti neighborhood for our upcoming trip in May. After MUCH research I landed on the Sentho Roma Hotel. It is relatively new (2 years, if that) and has a lovely decor with a restaurant on the premises and a rooftop bar that I hope to enjoy. The reviews are excellent (on Booking.com). I booked directly with the hotel and used their "in advance" rate for a bit of a discount. It is still expensive (at least for me) but I've decided that I deserve a little spoiling after roughing it on most trips. Below is their marketing description and a link to the hotel itself -- also check out the Booking.com reviews and you will get glowing recommendations.
*An exclusive location in the heart of Rome’s Monti neighborhood, luxurious suites, an elegant restaurant with garden and terrace with cocktail bar for your unforgettable evenings. Sentho is a luxury hotel which offers a service of “affordable luxury”, bringing together elegance and relax, combining luxury and relaxation in an entirely renovated historical building in the heart of Rome.
The 1000 square meters nineteenth century building from 1800 has been located next to the Basilica of Santa Pudenziana, the oldest Christian church in Rome, built on the ruins of an ancient Roman house. Sentho shares the garden and internal courtyard with the church, allowing to its guests to enjoy a unique and typically Roman view and atmosphere.*
Rick's guidebooks recommend Hotel Raffaello, a less expensive hotel right across the street from Santa Pudenziana. I thought it was fine. Do be sure to visit the church.
Thank you for your replies!
@joeandrose—i had already bookmarked Sentho Roma as a potential hotel. And after much research, went with that location as well. It really does look wonderful. Great minds??…lol
janejtay, OMG, that is such a cool coincidence! Sentho really stood out for me & I'm excited for our stay. I really wanted a place that had personality & charm but also modern conveniences like an elevator and SMART TV! I'm almost embarrassed to admit my guilty pleasure of streaming TV service -- but sometimes (even in Rome), right before bed, I need to relax with a Netflix favorite. Enjoy your trip and yes, great minds do think alike!
Enjoy your trip as well!! Woohoo! Cannot wait!
