If no one here comes up with a recommendation, you might take a look at booking.com. I've found the reviews on that website to be generally reliable. You can't leave a review if you haven't booked a room and stayed at the hotel.

You may get more useful responses here if you give us your nightly budget in euros and tell us how many people you'll have in the room.

Arriving late in La Spezia, we had a lovely single night at Hotel Firenze e Continentale just stumbling distance from the train station before moving on to Vernazza. It has a great Old World vibe, beautiful rooms and exquisite breakfast. Happy travels!

October 2019 (I want to say "last year" HA!) We stayed 3 nights at - L'Opera Rooms & Suites, ( 19 Via Lazaro Spallanzani).
It's about 3 blocks down hill from the station. An easy walk. Very nice and redone rooms are in an older building. There is a small lift tho you have to go up 1/4 flight of stairs to get to it. It is more like a group of hotel rooms on 2 floors in an older converted apartment building. No front desk - the manager met us at the front door. It's about 2 blocks to one of the main squares and pedestrian street to the port. There are many restaurants near. We used this as our base to visit Cinque Terre - our forth was having knee issues and so chose to skip staying where all was stairs. It was easy to walk to the ferry for 5C. We also used the train one day.

If coming in by train make certain you get off at La Spezia CENTRALE - there is also a La Spezia station. Locals must laugh a lot at the tourists scrambling off and back on with all the bags & we had a folding wheelchair - aargh!!
