So I have another question ~ Where is your favorite place to stay in Genoa, Italy? I'm looking for a great location. My mom and I will be arriving via train from Nice, staying the night in Genoa, enjoying the day there, and then taking the train to Florence.

We like this place http://www.hotellenuvole.it/m/ Le Hotel Nuvole for one night. We walked 15 or 20 minutes from the train station but the streets are a bit rustic with luggage so I’d take a taxi. The hotel gave us great restaurant recommendations.
Don’t miss the aquarium! World class!
My GF and I were in Genova about a week ago and stayed at the NH Genova Marina hotel. It is right on the port and has balconies with nice views. If you arrive at the main train station you can take the metro to the Darsena station which is across the street from the hotel. Great breakfast and it is close to many fine restaurants. The aquarium is a 2 minute walk.
