We will be taking a cruise this fall that leaves from Genoa. We plan on flying to Milan and taking the train down to Genoa. Any suggestions of a decent, reasonably-priced hotel to stay in that is convenient to both the train station and the cruise terminal?

We loved Hotel Nuvole. It is about a 15 minute walk from the train station, and close to the waterfront.... Not sure exactly about the cruise terminal, but I am sure you could take a cab.
EDIT: Forgot to say you can reserve this hotel on Booking.com. I think their website is only in Italian, but the staff speaks English.

And I had once the Hotel Astoria, also a few minutes walking from the Brignole railway station. Good value old-fashioned hotel with an excellent freshly-brewed breakfast coffee!
