Hotel in Florence - October

any recommendations on a modest hotel, easy to access from the airport and within walking distance of the railway station? I need to spend one night before my tour convenes in Sienna. Safe and clean are my + priorities.
thanks all

I don't know about access to the airport because we took the train in, but Residenza Giotto is within walking distance from the train station and is Rick Steves recommended. We loved our stay there; it's right in the middle of town, next to the duomo, and our room was lovely. I am not sure what you consider modest, but we paid 120 euro.

Not sure about airport access but Hotel Enza is about 10 minutes from the train station and 15 minutes from the Duomo. I spent 45 euros on a single w/o a bathroom in the room but had access with a key across the hall. See RS book recommendation.

The airport you mention is probably in Pisa. It is a short train or bus trip into Florence from there. From the Florence train station or bus station, Hotel Enze is about a 10-min walk and a great value. I stayed recently in a single with bath and paid 50 Eu/night.

The Accademia hotel was recommended to us 5 years ago and we reserve on the internet. Nice and clean, with breakfast provided, double with a King size bed and private bathroom (huge) was $120. Three blocks to the the train station, two great Irish bars down the street; an excellent family ran restaurant next door and easy access to the San Lorenzo market, il duomo, etc. Good luck.

I have had GREAT luck with the Hotel Casci in Florence. It is lovely, and an easy walk from the train station. The family that operates the hotel are warm and wonderful.
