hotel in Florence

We will be ending our tour in Florence at the Hotel Torre Guelfa and are wondering if we should just book two more nights there, or move to a location nearer to the center? Has anyone stayed at this hotel in the past? The reviews seem to be varied depending on the actual room. Thanks.

While I've not stayed at the hotel, I'm familiar with its location, which is very near the center but on a quiet street. You can't get much closer to the center. It would only make sense to move if you found alternative lodging you liked more or maybe that was just as nice but more reasonably priced. And don't forget to consider the convenience of not having to change hotels for your last 2 nights.

We stayed in Hotel Torre Guefla last September. The rooms are ok (you get what you pay for) (beds were comfy) but the location is great but if you call a cab beware that the street is very narrow so you will want to be waiting at the curb so your cab/tour doesn't have to block the street for too long. We walked pretty much everywhere - we stayed there 4 nights. Staff was fairly friendly, some more than others.

For anyone who has stayed here: Did you stay in the Annex (which is supposed to have larger and more modern rooms), or in the original building?

We stayed with them at the end of our Heart of Italy tour last month, leaving the last morning, so I’m not sure about room prices. We enjoyed our stay and our room...it was lovely. The rooftop view is just amazing. If we return to Florence we would absolutely stay there again....close to everything yet quiet in the evenings.

We stayed at the Hotel California on a previous RS trip. Loved the central location and the rooftop terrace. All the rooms were a very good size.

The Hotel California is well located, the rooms are nice, and I'd not hesitate to stay there again. But do you really want to change hotels for just two nights? In all probability you'll not be able to check into the new place till the afternoon although you may be able to drop off your luggage. Personally I'd try for two extra nights at the tour location.
