Traveling to Florence in May and would like a recommendation for a hotel. There will be 4 women, ages in our 70’s. Any help is appreciated
How many rooms? Budget per room?
Need 2 rooms with twin beds. No real budget but we don’t want something terribly expensive
Nearer to Ponte Vecchio and with an elevator, Hotel Torre Guelfa at SS. Apostoli 8 is elegantly housed in a grand 13th-century palazzo and has a fabulous and panoramic rooftop terrace (needing a number of steps to reach, quite worth the effort). It's oozing with iconic old world charm, decor and quirky layout. Hotel Accademia at Via Faenza 7 is a much smaller former palazzo with no elevator and 30 carpeted stone stairs to reach hotel entrance and reception desk. Wonderful staff, location convenient to Santa Maria Novella train station and essentially right next to the Medici Chapels in Basilica di San Lorenzo. Both of these choices are RS recommendations and remain in his Florence guidebook due to their continued quality and value as superior accommodations to lay your head at night. Each do an excellent colazione and exceptional caffè. Enjoy your time in Florence!
My sister, her 2 teacher friends and I really enjoyed Hotel Pendini for 3 nights in June 2023. Great breakfast, lots of room to spread out, elevator and fantastic air conditioning (it was 100 degrees the whole time we were there).

I have stayed here several times and my cousins loved it after I recommended it. 4 blocks north pf the Duomo and around the corner from the Accademia Gallery.
Another hotel to consider:

I think they also have apartments across the street.
Their restaurant has a million dollar view.
Book early, as it gets busy.
Alternatively you could also consider an apartment (check booking.com, Airbnb, VRBO). An apartment generally offers a better value if you need two or more bedrooms. Under those circumstances (2 or more bedrooms) I try to see if I can get apartments but only for at least 3 nights, as the checking in and checking out process is a bit longer with apartments. But it is something you could consider if you stay in Florence for more than 3 nights.

Use booking.com to narrow down choices.
Use the filters for budget, location, # beds, amenities like AC, elevator, front desk, bkft.
Read the reviews- they are legit.
Florence is very compact- easy to stay right in the center.
How many nights are you there?

We are off to Florence next March and have booked the Gold Arte Collection (near the Duomo), newly renovated, with walk in showers, They have a Double room which has twin beds. Good reviews. Also considered the Spadai, which apparently is highly recommended. A hotel I would not recommend is the Hotel de La Ville (where we stayed last year). Five star hotels (if budget permits), would be Hotel La Gemma or even the Hyatt, Il Tornubuoni. I would also check Booking.com to get an idea of what is available for the price.
Thank you all for the recommendations. I’m surprised how many of them have no availability or only have 1 room available. I’ll keep looking.
Two other four star hotels with rooms which have two single beds are the Brunelleschi, and the Grand Minerva hotel in the Piazza Di Santa Maria Novella. I had considered them for my next stay
If there is no availability right now, keep checking. This is a long way out. If you are looking on Booking.com for example you may find that only some of the possible rooms have been made available to the 3rd party site yet, and you may be able to book directly. RS recommends that and once your dates are firm I think that is the way to go anyway. On Booking many people make "cancellable" reservations and then have to change their plans. I scored a fabulous deal in Ortisei that way several years ago.
