Does anyone know of a small hotel in Domodossola, in town? Maybe euro 60 or so for a single?

I have just found 2 and there is no map so I can't tell where they are.

tnx

NAn - I thought you had cousins there are something?

Anyway----

go to www.googlemaps.com

At the search field enter Domodossola Italy hotel, then click search. they will be marked on the map for you. Click the names in the left frame to get an overview. If they have a website it will be there.

Looks like there are four, the fifth one just appears to be a restaurant.

Thanks. I found one. I don't have any family left there but I met several people when I was there 2 years ago and am anxious to see them again.

Besides, they all live about an hour up the mountain from Domodossola. But it is such a pretty town I wanted to stay one night there before I left for home.

Counting the weeks !..........

and thanks to all on this board who have helped me thru this. I never thought I would be able to plan a months trip, traveling thru Italy, all by myself. It's been wild.

Domodossola! I have never been there but it is the stuff of many stories my dad told me as a child :-) Just a human interest comment; the name of that town doesn't come up very often. Dad trekked around Europe with a group of buddies in 1957 when he was 25. So soon after the war, it always sounds like it was quite an adventure. Anyway, he had purchased a VW Beetle in Germany and after touring around in it, he put the car on a train to transport it to Italy (not sure why he didn't drive it, maybe he didn't want to drive through the mountains). The town where he reclaimed the car after taking the night train was Domodossola. He loves to let that name roll off his tongue with a flourish!

NanC I hope you have a super trip. It has been fun reading the responses given to your questions over the past few weeks/months. We will be there end of July - also can't wait!

That is the kind of traveling I would have loved to do. The ol' body won't be able to do that now, even the trains might be daunting, but I am so excited.

Turns out my grparents came from way above Domodossols, 3 small towns that are more communes than towns.

We stopped in Domodossola for a night the first time we went there. It is such a lovely little town and I wanted to spend time there this time,

But because I will be visiting in Varzo I really won't have the time because of the date and time of my flight home.

Oh, well, there is always "next time". I hope my money lasts as long as my years
