Hotel in Catania, Sicily not in the RS guide?

I've searched the first 23 screens of Qs and don't see this one (though that only goes back to early April): A friend and I are signed up for the Sicily tour ending in Catania on March 7, 2025. We would like to stay at least 2 more nights, but there are only two hotels in the RS guide that aren't already sold out, and the ones that are available are at the $$$$ price level, and would require sharing a bed.

Before we resort to potluck on booking.com -- or pull the plug on the tour entirely (we never dreamed everything would be booked 9+ months ahead for low season!) --- can anyone recommend a hotel in a safe neighborhood of Catania accessible to people without a car?

Could the hotels be closed for the winter or not ready to take reservations that far in advance? Were you able to email them directly?
Good luck!

To be clear, the tour hotel knows you are on the tour and can't accommodate?

I would not assume the hotels are already booked up for next March. More likely, they have not opened up reservations yet.

And there is not need to limit yourselves to hotels listed in the RS guidebook. Booking.com is very easy and reliable to use for searching—-the reviews are legitimate, the map shows exactly where each hotel is in relation to the sights, you can filter for rooms with twin beds, and the photos of the rooms and other hotel areas are very useful. I limit our search to places with a rating of 8.5 or higher and have never gone wrong with my choices. Once you find one you like, go to the hotel website to book.

I agree with Lola, I trust the booking.com ratings, and have found them to be very reliable. One must stay in the lodging in order to review it.
Good luck!

Can the hotel be in a city other than Catania ? Siracusa, a little bit south of Catania, would be a better place to stay.

Thanks, everyone. I’ve emailed a number of hotels and am waiting for replies. I also appreciate the vote of confidence for bookings.com ratings.
