Does anyone have a hotel or B&B recommendation in Catania, Sicily? We'd like a reasonably priced room for one night before we join a tour that begins at the CTA airport. We're hoping to find a place with local character that's convenient for walking around to see the sights of the city.

In 2005 we stayed at the Best Western Hotel Mediterraneo. It is right in the heart of Catania. We had really good service: our flight was late and they reopened the kitchen for us. We were there on a weekend and there was plenty to see right around the hotel.

At the beginning and end of our trip to Sicily we had overnight stays in Catania, at Hotel Etna 316 (which is, not surprisingly, at Via Etna 316). We walked from there to pick up our car from Maggiorre car rentals.
