Has anyone stayed at Hotel Il Nido in Amalfi? How did you like it and is there a lot of climbing up and down stairs?
You can read a bunch of reviews of that hotel on booking.com, all of them left by people who've actually stayed there. (I used May 3 as my arrival date, so don't expect the rate to match what you've uncovered.) The link to the reviews is near the upper right.
I haven't read the reviews--and you should, because lots of hotels have rooms only accessible via stairs never mind the presence of an elevator. However, I see room listings including the phrase "Upper floors accessible by elevator". I'd suggest messaging the hotel to ask whether all its rooms are elevator-accessible and what access is like from the port and the town center. It's possible you'll be able to learn about the latter by using Google Maps' Satellite View to walk the streets around the hotel.
I LOVE everything about il Nido. But are we talking about the one above Sorrento? The rooms with a view have beautiful views. The breakfast is amazing (no, the orange juice machine will not fit into your luggage - I tried). Dinner on the balcony is amazing - the food and the view. It is my favorite restaurant in Sorrento. I've stayed at the hotel may 10 times now. Brothers Dino and Gianni go out of their way to make the guests welcome and comfortable. Stairs? Why not just use the elevator? The entrance to the hotel is actually the top floor. The building is built on the side of the mountain. If you have a car, you can park on the roof. Check out the website: ilnido.it for details. I can't wait to get back there!!!
She means the one in Amalfi:

Thank you, I read the reviews online am just going to go with it, it sounds like it will be fine!
My wife and I just left the Il Nido in Sorrento this morning after a wonderful 6 night stay. First of all we loved the location being just a few minutes out of the hustle and bustle of the city center....it's so peaceful and the views are incredible. Also, the hotel has a free shuttle they share with 3-4 other close by hotels...it's very prompt and the drivers are excellent. 10-12 minutes you're in town.
The family that runs the Il Nido are great people; Dino is on top of it night and day. His brother Gianni is more behind the scenes but his presence is felt as the chef. Breakfast is basic but very tasty and filling....just what one needs to start a day of touring. We had a couple other meals (lunch and dinner) which were very good.
The room are spacious along with the bathrooms...both larger than many European hotels.
We would definitely stay at the Il Nido again if visiting the Amalfi Coast.
Also, to answer your stair question; there's a lift to all floors and a driveway/ramp for rolling luggage...all very easy to navigate.
The Il Nido the OP was asking about is the one in Amalfi town, not Sorrento.
Sounds like they've made their booking.
Thank you, yes I did mean Il Nido Amalfi. However, I may change and stay in Sorrento instead, lol. Amalfi and Positano both just seem really expensive and I keep wondering if we can have just as much fun staying in Sorrento and touring from there. We have 5 nights so I may do 3 in Sorrento and 2 nights in Positano or something like that, I am having a hard time deciding what to do. I see myself getting overwhelmed in the Amalfi coast towns with the heavier volume of tourists, heavier traffic, higher prices, etc. I am open to any input!
We absolutely loved Hotel It Nido in Sorrento. So much so that we changed our itinerary to stay another night there later in our trip. Family ownership, generously sized rooms, wonderful food, and a million dollar view. Breakfast is included, and the deck adjoining the breakfast room lays the Bay out for your pleasure. There is a complimentary bus that runs down into the town. It was the best place we stayed in nearly a month in Italy.
