Does anyone have an opinion about which hotel is more car arrival friendly in assisi. I noticed Hotel Ideal advertises free parking onsite, although may be a tight saqueeze, and Umbra Hotel, we would park in a lot and shuttle to the hotel. Opinions?

If you will not be using your car while you stay in Assisi, it won't matter. You can walk everywhere if you stay in the the old city. Realize the old city in parts can be a little hilly and lots of steps.

The Hotel Ideale is very convenient for drivers. It is easy to find, and the parking is right in their backyard, and was nowhere near full when we were there in September 2002. The only downside -- which didn't bother us -- is that it is a couple of blocks walk to the center of town.
