Hotel Hermitage in Florence

Good Morning,
Looking to see if anyone has stayed at the Hotel Hermitage in Florence? http://www.hermitagehotel.com/

I have booked a 4 night stay there for this coming March. It appears that it has great reviews, but it does look a little dated. Looking for feedback from anyone who has stayed there.

Also open to other suggestions. I will be staying by myself, so a safe place close to sights is important to me. My budget is $100-$110 per night.

The hotel options in Florence seem overwhelming, so any advise on where to stay is very much welcomed!

Thanks in advance,
Lisa

I have not stayed there. I just wanted to suggest what I did. I went to booking.com and put in my dates & you can even enter in your budget & other search criteria. Then go into each hotel & see what rooms they have to offer. You can read other peoples reviews & get a better feel for the hotel, then through the website. Once I made my choice I went to hotels website & booked there, usually got the same deal or better. Good luck & have fun planning!!

I stayed there in 2009 and was very happy with the place. The decor is a little dated but it was clean, comfortable, and the staff was very good. Very safe if traveling alone. Breakfast was very good and they would serve me on the rooftop terrace which has an amazing view over the Arno and you can see the Duomo and Palazzo Vecchio. Saw a shooting star over forte belvedere! We had a room looking at Vasari corridor but the back looks at a small courtyard and a church which had classical museum concerts. They also have a small bar in a nice study. Location is excellent.

I haven't visited recently, but Hotel Hermitage was always filled with the personal antique collection of its lovely owner. I'm not sure of his current status. This is not a Ferragamo property, but for a 3-star, I always thought the Hermitage was special. By definition, the decoration is "dated," meaning, the hotel is filled with antiques. If you want modern, new, or contemporary decoration, this is not the place. Some rooms are duller than others, but the hotel is still listed on Karen Brown, which means a lot. I always enjoyed the slightly hidden location. Makes you feel like a private resident of Florence. You do need to climb a flight of stairs to reach the elevator. The top-floor breakfast terrace is lovely year round. Some of the deluxe rooms have nice views of the Arno and bathrooms with hydrojet tubs. For this budget, you may be able to get a Single. This would not be my choice of room here, but you still get to enjoy the other amenities this charmer has to offer.

I have stayed there. I agree with above. Good location. Nice roof top view for breakfast. Our room had a view of a church and got to listen to a Baroque music concert being given there. Would stay there again.
