Hi! We have two days in Rome coming up, we want to stay close to sights but also have a more authentic/quaint ambiance, neighboring surroundings. Has anyone had any experience with either Giardino or Nicolas Inn or both?
Nicolas Inn is in the Monti neighborhood, while has become very hip and trendy. We have stayed there twice and will go back. The hosts are very helpful. The Hotel Giardino is not that far from there it's slightly isolated near Quirinale Palace. You won't walk out the door and have a lot of option. Rome is small however, so you're not looking at a long walk no matter you stay if you're in the center.
Thank you! Nicolas Inn it is:-) I appreciate your reply, something that can't be found on their websites and on tripadvisor. Nicolas Inn had better reviews but I was only thinking of Giardino because it says nearer to Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps.
I stayed at Giardino last October and may be staying there again in a couple weeks. It's a great place if you want to be close to the sights, but I wouldn't call the location quaint. It's a half block of Via Nazionale...lots of stores, traffic, etc. We had a room on the street but didn't hear anything at night. The breakfast is good and Tiger and Nicola were great at giving directions....even showing you google street view for every twist and turn! Free wifi too. If you end up staying here, I suggest having dinner at Ristorante Santa Cristina al Quirinale. It's down the alley just across the street from the entrance to Giardino. Great food and extremely quaint!! We ate there every night. Definitely make a reservation.
