Booked Hotel Galleria for a couple nights-- It is expensive and listed as only a 1-star hotel (which I found strange based on its price) It is recommended in book but curious to see if anyone has stayed there and what they thought.

the stars for hotels is about amenities they have: 24 hour reception desk, elevator, breakfast, size of rooms, insuite bathrooms, etc. Haven't stayed that far out usually canareggio or san polo area away from rialto bridge and st marks square for the maddening crowds. being on grand canal can a pretty sight but the noise level of all the "boats" coming thru, early morning till late nights, can be loud. you can look up italyexplained.com/stars-what-they-mean.com hope this helps. happy travels

Yes, we have stayed there and found it very nice. Enjoyed having them serve breakfast in our room so we could eat in leisure as we watched the boats on the Grand Canal. We are staying there again in September. Enjoy your trip.
